The European Commission’s Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed voted last Friday to ban the use of the insecticide chlorpyrifos. The ban is expected to be finalized in January.
According to a post-vote European Commission statement, “Experts concluded that concerns related to human health exist, in particular in relation to possible genotoxicity and developmental neurotoxicity”.
