Suppliers in U.S., Canada join massive retail sustainability plan

Companies are increasingly looking for ways to reduce and divert food loss and waste as the 40% food waste statistic continues to spread among consumers. 12.3, a coalition of executives from business, government and civil society introduced the 10x20x30 initiative at the 2019 annual food loss and waste summit. The goal is for at least 10 retailers to have at least 20 suppliers pledge to cut food loss and waste in half by 2030. At this point, more than a dozen companies have joined from around the globe. They will all be measuring and publishing their food loss and waste inventories. Find out which companies have joined and more about the initiative here.
